Why Consumers Struggle to Recognise the Risks of High Visceral Fat

Written by Evolt IOH | Jan 28, 2021 4:35:50 AM

A visual inspection in the mirror or fitted clothing is often the gauge people use to determine their body fat level.  To most people, fat is fat but what they fail to realise are the huge risks that the hidden fat (Visceral Fat) could pose to their health. The reality is that a visual inspection can only give you an indication of your subcutaneous body fat level rather than your visceral fat level.

Visceral fat sits within the abdominal cavity and surrounds internal organs and can be difficult to see on visual inspection in some individuals.  High visceral fat levels are associated with high risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and other obesity related diseases.

Whilst the approach to reduce both types of body fat require a calorie deficit and exercise activity, there are supplements and other approaches that can assist with the reduction of either subcutaneous fat or visceral fat.

Certain factors can affect visceral fat such as poor diet, alcohol and drug use as well as high stress (which can be mental, emotional, physical or environmental like shift work).

For considerably high visceral fat levels, medical consultation should be sought from a qualified general practitioner.

What Customers Can do to Reduce their Visceral Fat

For general guidelines to improve and lower visceral fat levels, customers need to ensure a balanced, nutritious eating plan in a calorie deficit is followed.  Include plenty of green, cruciferous vegetables (or supplement with a good quality greens supplement) as well as ensuring a sufficient amount of protein intake and good quality fats. Lowering stress situations can be difficult, however cortisol reduction supplementation may be used to assist.
